Diet Affiliate Programs

When picking a niche for an affiliate program, make sure to narrow it down as much as possible and target a specific market. A good example is this week’s niche: Paleo diet affiliate programs.
The Paleo diet falls under the ever-popular, evergreen weight loss niche. We’ve covered diet affiliate programs before, but the Paleo diet is different. It is a specific diet targeting people committed to a very particular lifestyle.

Paleo Diet
What is it?
I would like to regale you with what I have learned in the course of my research but I want to make this post short and sweet, so I will let Nom Nom Paleo, a wonderful site, tell you what Paleo is all about:
“In a nutshell, the Paleo diet (or, as I like to think of it, the Paleo template—the word “diet” tends to mislead folks into thinking this is nothing more than a temporary weight-loss program) is based on the notion that for optimal health, modern humans should go back to eating real, whole unprocessed foods that are more healthful than harmful to our bodies.”
Paleo is not really another diet program for weight loss. More than that, it is a lifestyle change of eating only whole, unprocessed food.
If you are going to pursue this niche, it is always a good idea to check out similar websites on Paleo like this authority site, The Paleo Diet, which is already a go-to site for everything Paleo.

125x125Popularity
Analyzing the market
I quickly ran “Paleo diet” in Google Trends to see how popular this niche is now. Surprisingly, there has been a noticeable decline in searches for this term over the past two years (2015–2016). Nevertheless, the spikes on the graph below for the years 2015 to 2016 are still reasonably desirable and constant values.
Additionally, the top 5 countries from which most searches originate are highly developed countries that host a huge percentage of the “buying market.” I am therefore confident the Paleo niche is still worth targeting.

Keyword research
Selecting keywords with intent
With a very popular niche like the Paleo diet, you need to be careful with your keyword selection. The right keyword list will not only attract the right market, but also have a higher rate of conversion and help you generate more leads over time.
For this niche, the focus is on finding keywords with intent or keywords with buyer intent. These keywords usually lead the searcher to take action—whether that means buying something, seeking out information, inquiring about a product or service, or taking any other step that will likely lead to a sale.
There are different levels of buyer intent. The keywords that we want to target this time are high-intent keywords, which are keywords that signal a buyer is ready to conduct a purchase. The keywords that fall under this category are usually the “buy now” keywords and the “product” keywords. You may check out the examples below for reference on these types of keywords:
Once you are familiar with the keywords you are targeting, it is a lot easier to pick these keywords using AffiloTools.

Digital Marketing Trends To Watch Out For In 2017

Digital marketing, as you definitely know, is ever-changing and rapidly adapts itself to new technology, new attitudes and new behaviors. As a marketer, you must always be aware of what’s on the horizon to make sure you’re prepared, with the best marketing strategy.

Technology will have the largest impact on marketing efforts in the coming year. Whether it’s video production (and consumption) or wearable gadgets, rapidly developing technology is set to break boundaries and push us all out of our comfort zones.

Don’t know what to prepare for? Here are some digital marketing trends that are likely to dominate the marketing space in the new year.

125x125                         125x125

Visual SEO

Optimizing your site for search engines is an ongoing and ever-evolving process. Google (and other search engines) are regularly tweaking their algorithms to ensure we  always find the best results.

There is no doubt that the way we consume content has changed drastically in the past couple of years. Our attention spans have become increasingly limited and we are much more attracted to visual content such as photos, infographics and video over traditional plain text.

While plain text will always be important, in 2016 it’s likely search engines will start to place even more importance on visual content, as that is what users want. According to this Demand Gen report, even the B2B audience is becoming increasingly interested in visual content when making purchase decisions.

Engaging visual content means a user is likely to spend more time on your website. This is a good signal for search engines. Additionally, a site with more visual content is likely to start ranking better in search engines. If your visual content starts to appear in search results and users click through, you will get additional brownie points from Google for relevance.

Video Domination

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth, oh, about 1.8 million.

OK, yes, we’re being a bit dramatic, but it helps to drive the point home: video is very relevant for the current marketing landscape.

Whether it’s Netflix, YouTube, Instagram, or even live streaming options such as Facebook Live and Periscope, video is going to dominate the visual content marketing and consumption space in 2016.

In a Nielsen global survey of 30,000 respondents from 60 countries, 55% of respondents asserted that video programming is an important part of their lives. Whether it’s on mobiles, desktops or smart TVs, video, in its many forms, is well loved by the average internet user.

It’s also important to note that mobile video plays a huge role in video consumption. For Millennials and Generation Z, mobile is very often the primary or the secondary device for video. For out-of-home video consumption, mobile is the primary device of choice for all generations. I’ll talk about mobile in more detail below.

For marketers, this growth in video consumption is a new opportunity to produce more video content themselves, but also to advertise where and when their audience is viewing this content.

According to this study, 71% of respondents plan to increase their video marketing budget in the coming year. B2B marketers are also likely to continue ramping up their video marketing and SEO efforts with 73% of them confirming that video has positively impacted their marketing results.

125x125

Live Streaming

With the boom in video production, it’s impossible to ignore the growth in the live streaming trend as well.

Whether it’s a sports event live-streaming on the Web, a music festival on YouTube or your favorite celebrity on Periscope/Meerkat/Snapchat/Facebook Live, we are all loving how easy it is watch live content now. The quality of videos and the ease of accessibility (via mobiles and tablets) also helps the live streaming cause.

Live streaming is having a huge impact on the way we view traditional TV, with sporting events leading the way. The 2014 Sochi Olympics and the FIFA World Cup in Brazil are the perfect examples. However, it’s not just limited to sports anymore, with TV hosts, CEOs, yoga teachers, makeup artists and other celebrities live streaming anything from a makeup lesson or keynote speech to random bits of their lives.

Brands are jumping on board too. In early 2015, Red Bull live streamed several of its Guest House events and built up interest for the events using Twitter and Snapchat. Mountain Dew is another brand doing great stuff with its live broadcasts on Periscope.

What does this mean for marketers? Put simply: Go where your audience is. For example, if your audience is live streaming events instead of watching traditional TV, this is where your marketing efforts need to be focused. Or, if your audience is hooked on Periscope, find a way to personalize and humanize your brand by creating interactive content. You need to be engaging with your audience more and more on these platforms.

Make Money As a Blogger Through Affiliate Marketing

This episode is sort of an introduction to what affiliate marketing is and how I personally approach it. There are a heap of practical tips so you’re sure to get something out of it whether you’re a complete affiliate newbie, or have seen some success before.

affiliate-marketing-programs-dsim.jpg

Affiliate marketing is a blogger’s promotion of a particular product (created by someone else) with a specific link that contains a tracking code. When someone buys on the basis of your recommendation, and clicks through from your tracking link, you get a commission on that sale. For Digital Photography School, we often recommend cameras, and therefore will get 4% of any sale resulting from that recommendation from Amazon.

125x125                                                                    125x125

So why consider affiliate marketing as an income stream? When you consider in advertising the advertiser is taking a risk by paying you for amplification on your blog that might not work out, and you as the publisher are taking the risk by becoming an affiliate, it seems like a dud deal. But the rewards of affiliate sales can often be greater than through general advertising alone, which can make it an attractive option despite the risk.

Today I discuss one particular experience I had with an early affiliate collaboration and how it exceeded beyond everyone’s expectations, and I also talk about the kinds of blogs that can be more successful with affiliate sales, and the three things I believe they need to have that will boost their chances of getting a high return.

The other topics I touch on are:

  • Personally how I approach affiliate marketing
  • How much of my income is derived through affiliate marketing
  • How it is often dictated by seasonal trends
  • The three types of affiliate programs I promote on my blogs
  • The types of affiliate networks available and how they work
  • Tips for affliliate marketing on blogs (and what NOT to do!)
  • The types of promotion you can use depending on your audience
  • Placement of affiliate links for higher returns
  • How I drive traffic to the post and the promotion
  • Tips on transparency and disclaimers
  • Easy tracking of results
  • Promotional sequences and strategies
  • How to balance promotion frequency

Yoga Affiliate Programs

I’m back with this week’s Niche of the Week. This time, I found something that I am definitely interested in! In fact, I’m into it right now. And it’s surprising for me to see that this topic falls under the spirituality niche, when it is more popular these days as a weight-loss method and way of promoting general wellness.

Yes, I’m talking about yoga — and yoga affiliate programs.

Can you lose weight, find your center, and rake in cash all at the same time?

shutterstock_272729084.jpg

Know the Yoga Community

Since yoga is a way of life, you can bet there is an online community of yogis and yoginis. But how big a community are we talking about here?

I only have to look at social media sites like Pinterest and Facebook to know that yoga is an “in” thing for fitness and wellness buffs. But I still recommend checking Google Trends to see exactly how this niche is performing.

Google Trends show an upward interest in yoga. The biggest interest comes from Canada, Singapore and the US, countries whose citizens have spending power.

Yoga, as an industry, is performing well, and is predicted to do even better in the coming years. Interest in the niche has not waned, as more and more people are trying to live better by staying fit. As with any popular niche, you’ll find plenty of websites on yoga, such as YogaJournal.com and DailyCupofYoga.com. These are established sites with plenty of followers. And where there is a large following, you’ll find an interactive community that you can join in later to mingle and promote.

yoga-lehre-frau-grün-kleider-trainieren-meer-draußen.jpg

Letting People In Your Circle

The yoga niche has an active community that you can target and tap. Go out there and be one with them!

A popular niche is both lucrative and challenging. On the one hand, you have a large market you can target, but on the other, you can be sure other marketers out there are tapping into the same market and upping the competition. Good link-building and marketing strategies can make all the difference in a competitive niche. Be sure to have one ready in the early stages of planning your affiliate marketing business — even just a rough draft — so you can make a smooth transition from site-building to link-building.

125x125                                                                                 125x125

Social Media Marketing

This is the top link-building and marketing method these days, and with millions of people logged in to their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, it’s really no surprise. You can even find groups/communities on Facebook like this one where you can join in and be part of the discussion. You can share a few informative articles on your site and any other interesting tidbits on yoga. Just be sure you’re not just shamelessly self-promoting and that you’re following any community rules.

Affiloblueprint has lessons on promoting your site through social media. You can also check out resources such as SocialMediaExaminer.com for more tips and strategies on promoting your website on social media.

Create Tools or Videos

Great content such as tools and videos can bring in lots of traffic to a site. Creating this content to share on your website, and on other social media sites, is difficult, but the results more than make up for effort spent.

Videos are not nearly as complicated as you might think, especially once you’ve decided what you will make your video about. You can demonstrate a few yoga positions, or you can do a yoga video diary and set that up on YouTube and other video-sharing sites. Not only will you be on a path to wellness, you wallet will be too! (YouTube content creators can earn some serious cash.)

Creating tools require a deeper knowledge of the niche and your target market. What tool would they find helpful enough to download and share? That’s a question you need to answer, and once you do, it can take considerable time and money getting that tool out. But, again, being the site that offers a unique tool to the rest of the yoga community is worth it.

Don’t be overwhelmed with the challenges these content types present. You can always outsource, if need be.

125x125

Flattery List

A flattery list is a list of the movers and shakers in your niche. In the yoga niche, this would be top yogis and their websites. You can create a list of the best yogis, a list of the top websites, or a list of the best yoga clothing brands to feature on your blog. Make sure to include why you’re selecting them as the best. Trust is important here.

You can then get in touch with these websites and let them know you added them to your list. Usually they’ll give you a shoutout and mention they were featured in an article on their own social media pages. When they share the link, you get more traffic. It sounds like a drawn-out process, but it’s really simple.

Ways to Earn from Your Photography Blog

We have featured Niche of the Week posts on special hobbies, or what I call “passions,” before: makeup, cooking and travel. Here I am yet again with another Niche of the Week post on how to turn your hobby or passion into a source of income.

Bird-And-Camera-Photography.jpg

My husband was badly bitten by the shutterbug two years ago. He has always been interested in photography and has exhibited a talent for capturing great moments, so he finally decided to pursue it. He bought a Nikon 5100 DSLR and became the official family photographer. I fully support him, but we both never thought anything would come out of it besides having another hobby.

21008-DSLR-Cameras.jpgInterest in photography had reached a plateau until Nikon introduced the first digital camera in early 2000. Canon and other manufacturers followed suit, and not long after that, we discovered cameras on mobile phones. Digital photography was born.

There are now 4 times as many camera owners per US household as there were in 2002, with the bulk of photos stored on Facebook. Photography accessories such as memory cards, camera bags, cleaning kits and the like have never been more in demand. There are also online photography schools where you can learn to shoot better photos, as well as various books on photography.

The Big Picture

The photography industry is a $10 billion industry in the US alone.

Photography has gone digital in recent years. While anyone with a camera can now take photos and edit them with (often) free software, there’s definitely still a demand for photography specialists, who are making a comeback as they focus on specific photography services like special events coverage and publishing photo books.

31706.jpgThe photography industry in the US earned USD $10 billion in 2013, and and has been projected to grow 1.8% each year  since then — indicating a recovery in progress.

As far as interest in the photography niche, Australia tops the list. There was a decline to the number of searches from between 2014 to early 2016, but it is slowly on the rise. The US takes the 5th spot, behind New Zealand, the UK, and South Africa.

Different Ways To Drive More Traffic To Your Affiliate Site

Building an affiliate site is only half the battle. As an affiliate marketer, you know that the key to making a consistent income from your site is to generate traffic (and lots of it). There are hundreds of different tactics internet marketers are using to drive traffic to their website. You may already be doing some of these  while others might be news to you. So without further ado, here are a 75 different ideas to help you give your affiliate site traffic a boost. All of these may not be applicable to your business so simply use the ones you think make sense.

images.pngFacebook

Have you set up a Facebook page for your affiliate site? If not – do it right away.Use Facebook to build a community around your affiliate brand. Instead of just focusing on the sell, think about the value you can provide in terms of information, knowledge, news or even just entertainment. The more engaged your audience is, the more likely they are to visit your website to make a purchase.

125x125Search engine advertising

Pay per click advertising on search engines is one of the most effective ways of driving traffic to a website. Google Adwords and Bing Ads are the two most well known (and important) platforms. Advertise your site by bidding on keywords. Depending on how competitive your niche is, you could be paying anything from a few cents to several dollars per click. Be sure to look into the advertising guidelines for each platform before jumping in.

unnamed.pngTwitter

Twitter too can be a huge source of traffic, but you have to invest time and energy to really build a community. The Twitter audience is very different to Facebook and you have to treat them accordingly. Twitter users love to retweet content they like and find interesting. So, well thought-out, timely content has the potential to go viral and supercharge your exposure. You have to tweet well and tweet often – making sure to have conversations with your followers while also being useful and relevant to them.

unnamed1.pngPinterest

Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social networks. In September 2015, Pinterest had 100 million users and that number is only going to keep growing. For many website and blog owners, Pinterest has become a primary source of traffic so it’s definitely time for you to put into use for your business. Additionally, Pinterest users are known to be more likely to make a purchase.

unnamed2Instagram

More than 75 million people are using Instagram daily. It is also the “king of social engagement” as a Forrester study found; beating other social networks when it comes to keeping followers interested and engaged. As a unique and very visual social platform, Instagram has the potential to reach your audience in a brand new way. You can not only show off your products (and how they are used) but also create a visual presence for your brand online.

125x125Social media groups

Social media groups are a great place to meet and interact with customers interested in your industry/ service/ product. Facebook Groups and LinkedIn Groups are usually the most popular places your customers might spend their time online. Remember, these groups are meant to be places to exchange information and help others so don’t be salesy and try to promote your products from the get-go. Build relationships, be helpful and throw in links only where relevant. Once people know to trust you – the traffic will come automatically.

125x125Slideshare

Have you got slideshows or presentations for your website/ product? Don’t let them languish away on your computer – upload them to Slideshare and use them to send traffic to your website. Slideshare has over 60 million unique visitors, so it only makes sense that you start using the platform as a way to drive leads to your website.

How To Create Your Own Profitable Affiliate Blog

Blogs that make money through affiliate marketing do so by promoting products in their posts and / or through their email list. Some choose not to promote on the blog at all and keep it exclusively to email whilst others choose never to send any email promotions to subscribers and keep it on the blog.

120x60

Typically the ones that see real success with this model are the bloggers who are open, honest, upfront about the fact they receive commissions and who deliver incredible value in every post. They don’t write fake reviews of products or say ‘XYZ’ is great simply for the sake of promoting in.They show what they are promoting in action, write in-depth reviews, create case studies, provide actionable content that their visitors can see results from and in turn their visitors reward them by clicking on their links and buying. So essentially they stand behind what they promote and more often than not have used the product themselves.Through their great content and over the top value their visitors begin to trust and develop a relationship with them and you’re much more likely to buy from someone like that than a random internet stranger.

120x60Aside from content that promotes something the bulk of your content is likely to be pure value that your visitor can use that doesn’t promote anything.

Advantages of Affiliate Blogs

  • Great way to build up trust and a good reputation which is the easiest way to promote affiliate products.
  • Allows you to easily build an email list that you can use to further grow your business by sending traffic back to your site and promote to.
  • Through actionable content, case studies, and reviews you can make affiliate commissions with relative ease.
  • Blogs are easy to draw traffic to – you’ll pick up Google traffic, referrals from other bloggers, mentions on forums, social media shares and so on assuming your content is good.
  • 125x125

Disadvantages of Affiliate Marketing Blogs

  • Takes time to build your reputation for being a trusted marketer with high quality content.
  • 80% of your content likely promotes nothing so you put in a lot of work into writing and creating new posts that don’t directly create income – though do help with your credibility, traffic and building your email list.
  • Not a fast way to make money in most cases as you’ll have to build up your content and traffic levels before you see significant results.

120x60

How These Sites Deliver Value

By creating some of the best content in the niche on the subjects that your audience want to know about.

Through solving their problems and giving them actionable content they can use to improve themselves or their situation.

Being upfront, honest, open and always over delivering.

Never putting out content that half hearted or designed simply to promote a product.

Only promoting products which they truly believe in.

Organic Clothing Affiliate Programs

It’s totally possible to run a business and also be kind to the earth. In fact, that’s the focus of this Niche of the Week!

120x60

The “green” niche is one of affiliate marketing’s evergreen niches (pun only sort of intended). It’s also quite vast — there are so many sub-niches within it, targeting different interests and lifestyles, from people who want to start growing their own food to those who want to reduce their impact on the planet. We’ve dived into this very large niche before; you can check out our featured post on green energy affiliate programs.

And of course, the green niche also intersects with another hugely popular niche: fashion. There are plenty of manufacturers that have introduced lines of high-quality, sustainable clothing, which you can find featured on sites such as the Ethical Fashion Blog and Moral Fibres. Sustainable clothing is made using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment, which mostly means natural fibers. Within this particular sub-niche, you’ll also find organic clothing, which is our specific focus in this Niche of the Week!

Organic products, whether food or clothing, have to meet a stringent set of agricultural standards, which includes no synthetic pesticides. Most organic clothes and textiles are made from cotton, but it’s far from the only choice (take, for example, bamboo clothing!). Organic cotton is gentler on your skin (making it a great choice for people with allergies and intense skin sensitivities) and healthier for the environment.

125x125

“Organic” Keyword Research

Pick out the essential keywords that will sustain traffic and conversions

The Internet is an endless source of wonder and information. However, without understanding the best ways to go about your research, you may end up with a lot of great information… that’s totally irrelevant to your needs.

This is true with keyword research, especially if you are just starting out. Choosing which keywords to target and promote can be overwhelming for the new affiliate marketer.

Don’t let it scare you. Keyword research can be time-consuming, but it isn’t rocket science and it’s not some giant mystery. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look and having an idea of what your customer is looking for — that means knowing what phrases they’re using to search for sites like your own.

An important part of keyword research is finding long-tail keywords, the ones that might be 4 or 5 or more words. Why? The more descriptive your keywords are, the better. There might be 100,000 sites out there targeting “organic clothing,” but only a few that have focused on the far more specific keywords “organic clothing for adults” or “organic clothing for sensitive skin.” It’ll be a lot easier to rank for those long-tail keywords, and they help you target a specific audience, to boot.

125x125

Another thing to know is that good keywords should help you achieve your end goals: traffic + sales. You need to pick keywords that are not only topic-related but more so have high conversion rates.

So let’s start.
